We are specialist Toyota locksmiths. If you need help with lost keys, keys locked inside the car or your key has stopped working, then
If you need remotes or plips or spare keys we can also supply and program those.
We cover the whole of London and Essex, on a call out basis. We come to you, particularly useful if you've lost your keys, or don't like the prospect of relaying your vehicle to the main dealer, and then spending days waiting for them to do you the honour of actually working on your vehicle. And we are usually cheaper than the main dealer, without all the agro !
Contact us even if you are outside this area as we can and do travel around the country. Or we might be able to provide a mail order service, if you fancy saving some money, and can send us the relevant bits from you vehicle.
We are full members of Auto Locksmiths Association, and as such are police vetted.
There are several types of key used on Toyota vehicles:
We can supply, cut and program all of the keys on all of the Toyota vehicles.
An immobiliser system is a system fitted to all cars designed to stop your vehicle from being stolen. All cars made for sale in the UK since 1995 have factory fitted immobiliser systems. Vans also received immobilisers with in a couple of years.
ECU's control the running of the engine. When you turn the key in the ignition, the ECU will ask the immobiliser if it can start the car. Without the correct signal, Toyota ECU's will start the car, but then stop within 10 seconds. This circuit cannot be overridden or bypassed.
There are several types of immobiliser used on Toyota vehicles. Separate immobilisers were used some of the time - mainly on the older and very newest vehicles. On some the immobiliser is built into the ECU. And on others, such as the Avensis (1.6L and 1.8L 1998-2001) and Corolla (1.6L 1998-2001) the immobiliser is built into the key pickup. We can make keys in all of these situations - most other locksmiths cannot.
There is usually a security light on Toyota vehicles. This can help diagnose some faults with the immobiliser system or key. The light should flash when there is no key in the ignition. When a correctly programmed is put in the ignition, the security light goes out.
If I lose all keys do I need to change my ECU / immobiliser ?
If you lose all your keys, Toyota dealers will tell you that you need a new ECU and/or immobiliser. They charge upwards of £800. We have a much better way of dealing with completely lost keys. Our process involves resetting the memory inside your existing ECU or immobiliser. As a result we charge less than half what the Toyota dealers do.
If I lose all the master keys, must I change my ECU/immobiliser ?
Similar to the last FAQ, but this time you still have one working key, just no way of programming another. Toyota will say, new ECU and or immobiliser and charge at least £800. Because we understand how transponder keys work with immobilisers, we have a number of methods to create extra keys for you vehicle, including remote keys.
